SHIFTING CITIES: REFLECTIVE PAVILION
| REFLECT; RELAX; ADAPT |
As part of our module ‘Material Matters’ we were assigned a project to design a small scale pavilion which expresses and reflects the ongoing changes happening to the waterfront in Dundee, specifically the V&A Museum of Design.
Reflect, Relax, Adapt is a pavilion which is symbolic of Dundee’s design industry. Dundee as a shifting city, is continually growing, especially through design. More and more young designers are establishing in Dundee. My aim is for all generations to walk through the space and reflect on their city, old and new.
With the likes of Hayley Scanlan, Jane Gowans and Sophia Scott establishing businesses within Dundee in their design practices, this displays positive aspects for the industries and how they are coming back to fight. Each panel in the design reflects different design industries and how they have developed over the years.
I want people to use the space to reflect, relax and use their surroundings to be creative.
